Project ideation
RONNA - Robotic NeuroNAvigation
is a project dedicated to research and the design of a new innovative and competitive robotic system for application in neurosurgery. The project was started at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, University of Zagreb, in a partnership with the Clinical Hospital Dubrava.
The first operation
First brain biopsy using the RONNA robotic system, as an assistant to the surgeon, was performed in March of 2016.
A remarkable milestone in RONNA development and field of neurosurgery in general - the successful completion of the first brain biopsy using a robotic system. This remarkable achievement signifies a paradigm shift in the way brain biopsies and stereotactic neurosurgery in general are performed, harnessing the power of robotics to elevate precision, efficiency, and patient outcomes to new levels. This milestone marks the start of clinical applications with 50+ stereotactic neuronavigation procedures, still ongoing.
